Signing books as a special guest presenter at the 2016 Dark History Con.
In 1991 in undergraduate school, I enrolled in a class called “Introduction to Criminal Justice.” Fast-forward and I became an instructor for the same class. Now I am a criminologist who has studied, written, and lectured on crime for over 25 years. Criminal Justice and writing are my true loves; so it seems natural that I am a true crime author.
I have appeared as a guest speaker, lecturer, and instructor for organizations across the United States, to include Dallas Area Paralegal Association, National PFLAG (Parents, Families, & Friends of Lesbians & Gays), Texas Association of Licensed Investigators, Tennessee Correction Association, Federal Bureau of Prisons, and many more.

With Lisa Presley, who has a wicked sense of humor and amazing writing talent.
My resume lists loss prevention, the Sheriff’s department, the federal prison system (minimum to maximum, male & female), investigations, and as a Director of Criminal Justice programs in education. A migraine-related stroke slowed me down two years ago, and I realized I had to escape the corporate world. Now I teach part-time and I write.

I have written articles on crime and courts for several online news sites, and my work appears on education websites. I am the only journalist who is continually investigating the disappearance of Tabitha Tuders, Nashville’s most baffling missing child case.
I have trained at law enforcement schools across the country, including Texas, New Mexico, and Maryland. One of those schools is in Roswell, New Mexico; I returned safe with no alien abductions.
I am a proud Texan with Irish and Native American roots. I do volunteer work in animal rescue and nonprofit organizations that focus on crime prevention. My pit bull, Bronx, is in training to be a search and rescue dog specifically for Alzheimer’s patients, a tribute to my grandmother.

I love snakes, but not alligators (yes, there is a difference!).
To get away from criminal justice, I spend time traveling, horseback riding, perusing flea markets, and video gaming. My spouse and I live in a refurbished 1940’s farmhouse with dogs, cats, snakes, horses, and birds (all rescues). I admit: I have an addiction to bottled Coca-colas. And, I will also admit, a phobia of clowns, dentists, and alligators (not in that particular order).
