Author And Detective Paula May On The Recent Treatment Of Law Enforcement

Wow. Just wow. In just the past week, the attacks on law enforcement across the United States have been incomprehensible to me. Having spent over 30 years doing everything within my power to help people, to save lives, and putting my own life in danger countless times, I am shocked and stunned at these insolent and unjust attacks by minorities, and whites alike. No one despises dirty, biased or violent cops, especially Derek Chauvin, more than me, no one. If you do not believe that, read FIRST DEGREE RAGE, and you will see exactly what I think of cops that have no business in the business. The lack of compassion and respect, much less appreciation for our community heroes so few years after September 11, 2001, both astounds and disgusts me.

It is indeed a good thing that good cops – the vast majority of all cops – do not get into law enforcement for a pat on the back or recognition of any kind for that matter. Otherwise, there would be no cops, no one to answer the call, no one to respond to situations so intense and so violent that the average citizen cannot comprehend the wickedness we face every day and night. How any society can find these attacks on the police acceptable, condonable, and in fact praised and encouraged, is circling the drain. Make no mistake; law and order are mandatory for a safe and civilized society. We have a due process system in this nation in place for dealing with criminals, for bad cops, for murderers… but for innocent and hardworking cops on the streets today, apparently we are exempt from the U.S. Constitution that is supposed to protect all citizens including cops.

If Kay Weden had not had good cops, compassionate and diligent investigators to which she could entrust her very life and the life of her son, do not take my word for it; just ask her where she would be today. Ask Viktor Gunnarsson’s family if their son’s senseless murder would have ever been solved.
