The synopsis:
Tony Accardo had secrets. Not the boyish yarns of pranks and horseplay, but Hitchcockian tales of the macabre. The mastermind of close to 800 murders, his notorious portfolio included Jimmy Hoffa, Sam Giancana, Bugsy Siegel, Lucky Luciano, Johnny Roselli, Dorothy Kilgallen, Marilyn Monroe, Lee Harvey Oswald, and John F. Kennedy.
Accardo served as CEO of one of America’s largest and most profitable business conglomerates for the better part of the 20th century. The longest tenured Don in gangland history, Tony ruled the Chicago mob for fifty years, amassed an 8700 page FBI file, but never spent a night in jail.
Why has this story never been told? Accardo killed everyone in his path. Brutally violent and universally feared, Tony influenced national policy, exploited the FBI, owned Supreme Court Justices, and fixed presidential elections.
Author Mario Puzo loosely based Godfather Vito Corleone on Tony Accardo, both Dons espousing identical business philosophies and family values, actor Marlon Brando of exact height, dark features, and bodily proportions. Puzo also based Tom Hagen on Consigliere Murray Humphreys as Robert Duval’s flawless articulation, slight build and immaculate appearance was an exact match. Fictional singer Johnnie Fontaine was based on the legendary crooner Frank Sinatra.
Tony Accardo owned Las Vegas, his thirty year reign looting Strip hotels from the Desert Inn and Sahara to the Stardust and Caesars. Follow the mobbed up career of Frank Sinatra and underworld ties to a virtual who’s who of celebrities including Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Marilyn Monroe, Howard Hughes, Desi Arnaz, and half the Kennedy clan, Patriarch Joe and sons RFK and JFK.
After meeting Tony Accardo’s illegitimate son who was renovating my great granduncle’s house in Nova Scotia, Joe Batters was born. Together we pieced together a secret life unbeknownst to the Accardo family, Outfit associates, or the FBI. The result is a complete labor of love.
Bridging the gap from Al Capone to John Gotti, relive the ruthless power and violent domination of the Godfather they called Joe Batters.
