Author SpotlightThis week’s featured author is John Ferak, author of hit new release DIXIE’S LAST STAND. John is an accomplished journalist and family man whose longstanding interest in “writing about the darker things in life,” has culminated in a successful transition into writing true crime books. John has worked extensively throughout the American Midwest where fans have a special investment in his stories; “Over the past several weeks, many people around the country have pressed me time and time again, wondering when DIXIE would be available in paperback, especially folks who live back in Iowa, where the case originated. I hope that all readers of DIXIE take the time to post a review of the book on Amazon or on Goodreads when they’re finished. I also urge everybody to strongly consider reading other books from WildBlue Press. We have quite a collection of top-notch and New York best-selling authors and our fan base continues to climb.” John is an enthusiastic member of the WildBlue team who loves to hear from fans. As any good journalist, he paints a vivid depiction of the events in each crime story and asks the reader to cast the final judgment. We want to bring you closer to the investigative and scientific work involved in solving criminal cases. This week’s question is from Charlotte Ellis: “Have you ever thought about or wanted to impose your version of justice upon a suspect?” Thanks for your question, Charlotte. For an answer, we contacted Det. Bradley Nickell of the Las Vegas Police Department: “Cops are human, really no different than the average person. We all have thoughts about justice and injustice, just as you–feelings that some criminal might need a good dose of “justice” that our sometimes broken court system won’t provide. But those desires or thoughts have never translated into action for me because I took an oath; an oath all police officers have taken which the overwhelming vast majority of us take very seriously. Sure, you’ll find a bad apple from time to time, but our profession is probably the best in the world at identifying our own bad apples and removing them. Good cops are pleased when bad cops are exposed and removed, while at the same time, even more disturbed than the public about it because we have to wear the stain of their misconduct on our own reputations.” We look forward to receiving your questions!
